Stump Grove
Bella was given a fine stump for a birthday present, and used it as the inspiration for a redevelopment of this area of the garden, which was previously home to the compost bins (now enlarged and relocated). This is the first area of the garden a visitor comes to, with its entrance from the field we use for parking. The coppiced trees, under a stately ornamental cherry tree, are now underplanted with wild garlic and epimediums for a spring display. Jack added some fallen oak branches from the trees in the field to increase the sense of age and intrigue.
